Dodzi Kordorwu, a 37-year-old from the north metro area, pleaded guilty to participating in a romance fraud scheme that netted millions of dollars by primarily targeting elderly victims. Between May 2018 and June 2022, Kordorwu and others lured victims through emails and social media, using false personas to build trust and then solicit money under various pretexts, including marriage proposals. Kordorwu received over $2.2 million from more than 90 victims and is now awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to one count of mail fraud.
